How Multi-Point Locks Work on Kenyan Security Doors

A pretty handle is not a lock. What multi-point bolts actually do, what to ask on a quote, and how to test throw in the showroom.

Most “strong door” arguments in Kenya stop at thickness. Thieves care about the lock edge: how many bolts, how far they throw, and whether the keepers are steel or theatre. A multi-point lock ties the leaf to the frame at several heights so one kick does not open the whole story.

What to verify in person

  • Watch the bolts extend — do not buy from a closed photo.
  • Ask how many keys you get and whether cylinders are replaceable after a lost key.
  • A hatch must have its own latch. The main multi-point should stay engaged.
  • Smart locks sit on top of this chassis. They do not replace it.

If a seller will not open the door, walk away. Gateway Mall stock is there so you can hear the bolts, not imagine them.
